I wrote a Pantoum

Today in class, I decided to write a poem to go with Damsel. The genre is a Pantoum. Don't worry I didn't know what it was before today either ;) Pantoums go:
Line One
Line 2
Line 3
Line 4

Line 5 (same as second line)
Line 6
Line 7 (same as fourth line)
Line 8
And so on. I have no idea what to call this but as you might've noticed, I hardly ever do.

Fly higher
Scales shimmer
Who can stop it,
The way our hearts soar up there

Scales shimmer
Beautiful
The way our hearts soar up there
Unbelievable

Beautiful
It is exhilerating
Unbleievable
As we fly.

Here's another one I wrote.

Spring Breeze

The wind blows
So sweetly
And gently
Through the trees

So sweetly
It whispers
Through the trees,
The frail green leaves

It whispers
Lovingly
The frail green leaves
The spring breeze

Lovingly
Ever so sweetly
The spring breeze
Sighs.

  1. I Really like the second one--the lines repeat
    (or echo) each other nicely.
    Good for you!

  2. I think I'll make up my own poetry genre. Line one and two must rhyme with line 7 and line 2 but in reverse order and also must rhyme in another language such as Spanish. Go.
haha--I like them both and you should put the first one on the back cover of your Damsel book!
And I love the idea of the wind blowing sweetly through the trees...my favorite sound in the world!

  3. Nice! Have you seen Chocolat? It would be fun to write a pantoum on Pantoufle.
