Some Springy Stuff

Spring

Tiny flowers peek out of the damp, black dirt
Waiting for the sun to warm their smiling faces
And birds sweetly sing a spring morning tune
Waking up very young animals who gaze at their new world brightly.
Shiny leaves grow on trees and the spoils of winter are gone.
It's the dawn of a new year for some.
And so, the sun slowly rises, and spring lights up the grass.
(Lauren thinks she can find this poem in any other poetry book. I thought it was pretty original....)

Sorry about the three poetry posts. I just like the idea of posting them on my blog. Is that weird??

Check out my Poetry Scrapbook

This was a school assignment--it was fun to make!!
You'll probably need to view it full screen to see the words (click to see it bigger at the bottom)

Ocean Poems Cont.

(The first two poems are in the post below if you haven't already seen them)

Waves

Foamy white horses charge onto the beach
tossing their manes in the breeze.

Azure water turns from green to gray
the sea grows restless and
churning water marks a storm.

Thunder growls and rain patters onto large waves.

Soon everything calms down
blue-gray waves quietly lap the shore
gently cradling gleaming shells and bits of brain coral.

Maroon seaweed lies discarded on white sand
waiting for the waves to carry it back
to the salty water from which it came.

Ocean poems

Here are some poems about the ocean. Sorry I keep bombarding you all with my work.
<:(

Seashells (a haiku)
Seashells
glimmer always
hidden among seaweed
carried by waves lapping the shore
basking

Dolphin (free verse)
I am
looking down at the
strange patterns the sun makes on the
ocean floor
The world is calm
just how I like it
I leap out of the water and am
happy
I am an acrobat
of the sea
I dive back down and twirl about
I swim through blue
and breath fresh air again
silver droplets of water roll
off my fins
I gaze at the sunset and glide back down
past coral and sea cucumbers
to my friends and together
we vault across the ocean and plunge into the
warm water.

(There is more coming.)
