An Ode to Camping

A river gurgles happily
mica glinting in its waters
weaving through a valley
its steady rushing calming
many busy campers

A rugged trail leads up a mountain
to a prize at the top,
a gorgeous mountain meadow
which could make any heart sing with pleasure
for its glowing wildfowers
and absolute tranquility

A silver truck ambles
up a winding mountain road,
three girls giggling in the back marveling
at the trees around them and watching the
lightning in the distance, hoping the storm won't
push them back into the truck

A fire crackles and flares up
sending sparks shooting into the air
giving the dark woods a more homey feel
but
the flames soon die down to embers
and a reluctant family shuffles
back to their camper, heads filled with
memories of their few days spent in the wilderness.

Quote

"I never knew how soothing trees are- many trees and patches of open sunlight, and tree prescences; it's almost like having another being."
-D.H. Lawrence

This is how I felt when we went camping over the weekend :)
(Thanks Karen and Mark!!)

I will try to post pictures as soon as I can.

Orchestra Camp

Today was my first day of orchestra camp. I didn't know wether to sign up for the beginner or advanced class so I went to both. The begginner class was unbearably easy. It used the same book I finished in 6th grade. Advanced class was so hard I felt like crying! They just started in the middle of the song and it seemed like I was the only one who was lost. After that, I asked the teacher which class I should come to on monday so she said I could come to both and that she could dumb my advanced music down a little bit and make the beginner class harder.

4th Of July Fun!!!

The fun started on Sunday when we went to the racetrack. In January, (when we went to the stock show) we had met this guy who said that whenever we come down to the racetrack to call him and he'd show us his horses. So, we gave him a call and we went down to the paddock and saw the horses!! I am very impressed with horse cheeks. They're so round and big and soft!! After that, we hosted a barbecue. The next day was the 4th so we went to Steve's house to eat hot dogs, elk burgers, put on fashion shows and play games! Then, we went back to our house to watch fireworks on the hill. It was a very fun 4th
