. I opened the door of the wardrobe and you sighed. “Why do they want to meet me?” I mentally kicked myself for sounding so afraid. “I’m not going to lie to you. They’re going to decide whether you will be a good asset to Celestinia or if you’re even pretty enough to stay. If not, well, things may not turn out well. I suggest reading as much as that… book as you can. Later, I’ll climb up into your cave and give you a few more facts and traditions and the like that are on a need to know basis.” You explained. I nodded and climbed up into my semi cave which was glowing in the light of the afternoon sun. I opened up the book and started reading.
You came in about two hours later. You immediately started spouting out things that I needed to do. “Dragons are vain, Liliana. Especially the Empress. Flattery will earn you points believe me. That is, if you flatter her the right way. Once you arrive before her, bow low and mutter something about her beauty and make sure you use fancy titles. Your Highness will probably do. She and the Elders will question you about your past life and will then decide if you will be useful or if you are pretty enough. The Empress greatly appreciates beautiful things. If she decides in your favor you will tell her that you are grateful. I have a feeling that she will like you. I want you to know that we’ll have to go into Celestinia tomorrow to prepare.” You took a breath and looked at me, wanting to make sure I understood. I dipped my head in a sort of nod and you leaned back against the wall, relieved. I realized you were growing on me. But for some reason, that didn’t surprise me. I sighed quietly and went to pick out one of the most lavish dresses I could find. I rummaged through the wardrobes until finally, I found it. The dress was a purple blue color with flowing sleeves, a white under dress, and a slender belt of gold. The cut was simple but the dress as a whole was far from it. I smiled to myself and I remembered that I had never opened the jewelry box. I climbed up to my cave as quickly as I could and gently opened the box. Inside, there were diamond bracelets, strands of pearls, rings of rubies and emeralds, shimmering silver and gold brooches, and more. But what caught my eye was a delicate amethyst necklace and what looked like my old tiara with diamonds, purple sapphires, and blue topaz that I had lost a little before you had stolen me away. I held it so you could see it and you murmured, “I bought it at a pawn shop about three weeks ago.” I shook my head in disbelief. Probably some servant had found it and sold it. I set these aside and also took the necklace of moonstone from the hollow front cover of the book and put it beside them. I was ready for Celestinia.
There's a lot more but right now I'm trying to figure out where it will go and how it will end. I'll try to post more soon but beware! It does get a little sappy.... :/
